At least two people were injured in a Brooklyn shooting with NYPD officers on Monday, according to a police spokesperson.
The shooting happened at the corner of E. 57th Street and Remsen Avenue near Brownsville shortly after 6 p.m., according to the department. Spokesperson Carlos Nieves said officers responded to an alert from the gunfire locator service Shotspotter. When they arrived, a man began shooting at them, authorities said. The officers returned fire, according to Nieves, hitting him. He was taken to Kings County hospital and is in critical condition, the NYPD said.Nieves says none of the officers were injured.A press conference was scheduled for later Monday evening, according to the NYPD.Charles is a Day-of reporter focused on breaking news and enterprise.
