, players hurried out of a hushed clubhouse wondering how it went so awry.
The top of Houston’s order hammered one of New York’s best starting pitchers. Yordan Alvarez swatted a three-run home run to continue his abuse of anything thrown in his vicinity. Alex Bregman bludgeoned another three-run shot and brought his OPS back to .762. Framber Valdez recovered from a brutal first to hold New York hitless over the final five innings he worked.
For one fatal inning, none of that mattered. The Yankees sent eight batters to the plate against Pressly and Ryne Stanek. Seven of them reached base. The duo threw 39 pitches. Joey Gallo struck out on three of them against Stanek. None of the other 36 produced an out. A lineup that had been hitless since the first ambushed the best Houston's bullpen had to offer.
“I think Pressly is one of the best closers in the big leagues,” said second baseman Jose Altuve. “He’s been really good for us. He’s been really important for the success we’ve had this season. One bad day doesn’t mean anything. We have a lot of confidence in him. I’m really happy to have him on our team.”
Pressly is a prime example. He has pitched just 19 innings this season. He boasted a 2.41 ERA entering Thursday’s game. The four earned runs New York scored against him were one shy of his total all season. Such carnage will combust anyone’s ERA.
Chandler_Rome Trade him for an OF
Rare? This is called not managing with your gut. He hasn’t been convincing at the closer role and pitched the night before. Against the best in BB, Dusty went with status quo. Pressly wasn’t the best choice in this situation.
BAD MANAGING!
Pressly you can blow game in other team , but not the yankee man, I hate that yankee team
