- Asian stocks struggled for headway on Wednesday as the second half of the year got underway, with improving economic data offset by worries that surging coronavirus cases in the United States could derail the world’s recovery before it properly begins.Following firm U.S. housing data and signs of a rebound in Europe’s economy, the latest boost to sentiment came from Chinese factory activity gathering steam in June, with the Caixin/Markit manufacturing PMI rising to 51.

Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.2%, though, U.S. stock futures fell 0.3% and gold sat close to an eight-year peak, pointing to elevated caution. Coronavirus cases more than doubled in 14 U.S. states last month, a Reuters analysis showed, and fears are growing that the caseload could prompt fresh lockdowns. “The rise in COVID-19 infections is now triggering a reversal on the reopening strategy,” said Rodrigo Catril, senior FX strategist at National Australia Bank in Sydney. The U.S. government bond market remains in a cautious mood. Yields on benchmark 10-year government debt rose overnight to 0.6774%, but finished the quarter steady.

Currency markets were in a holding pattern ahead of the next slew of data due to provide a snapshot of the U.S. recovery.

S&P, Dow futures edge higher on stimulus, rebound hopesFutures tracking the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones indexes edged higher on Monday following a selloff on Wall Street last week as investors weighed hopes of more stimulus and improving data against a resurgence in global coronavirus cases. Lol. Well, we'll just ignore 1.48 million new unemployed and a raging pandemic on the off-chance the Republicans won't say ... 'But the deficit. We cannot just hand people money or they'll never go back to work to die for our economy' LOL

Wall Street ends higher on Boeing bump, stimulus eyedWall Street stocks closed higher on Monday and the S&P 500 was poised to clinch its biggest quarterly percentage gain since 1998 as investors hoped for a stimulus-backed economic rebound, while a surge in Boeing shares helped boost the blue-chip Dow. Kind of sad the company that hid safety information for a year, and ended up killing hundreds of people, will get to profit off of the pandemic. there is no logical tether to reality with the market...Boeing is NOT selling planes, they cant fly the one that keeps crashing, and America can't land in the EU for the foreseeable future. WTF? Lol, unemployment 50%, people without jobs, no consumption & stocks all time high lol, pure fraud, why then we need to work if rich use printed cash for own stock buybacks & not real sells, that's criminal theft of public wealth. Not capitalism anymore but Gov't oligarchy
