Authorities in the eastern Chinese port city of Qingdao said they have completed coronavirus tests on more than 3 million people following the country’s first reported local outbreak of the virus in nearly two months.

People wearing face masks to help curb the spread of the coronavirus walk across a street during the morning rush hour in Beijing, Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020.

The National Health Commission, however, said Tuesday that at least six new cases of the virus were found in Qingdao in the past 24 hours. The reason for the discrepancy was not immediately clear. China’s methods for logging and reporting of virus numbers has been questioned since the pandemic first began late last year in its city of Wuhan.

Authorities in Qingdao have said they plan to test all 9 million people in the city by the end of the week, similar to previous mass testing campaigns in other cities where outbreaks have been detected. Testing began with “close contacts, close contacts of those close contacts and more casual contacts,” gradually expanding to all districts of the city, the health department said.

It’s almost like.. they are treating it like a highly contagious, potentially deadly virus

3 million people out of a population of billions really isnt that big of a test sample when you think about it

so what---tests indicate how far its spread nothing more

A huge number.

See folks there not bad folks! JoeBidenForSenate

There test molecular to. 1400 millions chin ?

China has demonstrated over & over again that it has the best strategy, execution ability & the most disciplined work force to put an unprecedented pandemic under control in mere weeks. Shame on U, those who stigmatize & smear Chinese people!! U don't deserve to be healthy!

Quick and wide-spread testing seems to be the way China responded to new clusters of infections. China can do it because there is so few clusters and China spares nothing to keep it that way although it is costly and cumbersome!

Uh huh... some real journalism right here...

Please other notice not chin

B.S.

Wow Ap great article! 12 cases for 3 Million of tests or 0.0004%! Wow scary number, you like fears! china will achieve to make 9 million tests in 5 days... France does less than 175K per day ... with 1000 times more positive!!! Main stream Media news = BS! Thank you Ap

3 million? But, but, but... China has 1.5 billion people.

And why can’t we do this here? 🙄

Uh huh

Thankfully, city government authorities of such country's authoritarian political party can always be counted on to report only the truth to news agencies.

And we believe everything China says 🤨
