As Ohio State heads to Maryland on Sunday, the Buckeyes continue to experience some growing pains in crucial moments of games.

Ohio State associate head coach Jake Dieber's full press conference from Jan. 6, 2023.The road to wherever this Ohio State season will end was always promised to have speed bumps.

“As much as anything, you’ve got to grow from it and move forward,” Holtmann said after the loss to Purdue. “Good teams find a way to do that. Teams that feel sorry for themselves typically don’t do that well enough. I knew there would be some growing pains.” “Those two plays are on me,” Holtmann said of Sueing’s turnover and the inability to get a shot attempt at the end of the game. “We just have some growing pains. I think we’ve done some really good things, but there’s obviously a couple plays, couple decisions in this game where you look at and say, ‘OK we’ve just got to get better together in those situations.

“Finishing the game all the way through,” he said. “We were up three with however many seconds left to go. That’s what it comes down to in Big Ten play. The teams here are all good. The end of the game, those last couple possessions, every possession counts. We didn’t make enough plays at the end especially and we paid for it.”

Ohio State’s Efficiency Beyond the 3-Point Line Gives Buckeyes Reason to Shoot More ThreesOhio State has only attempted 20.3 3-pointers per game (which ranks 254th in Division I) but ranks in the top 50 nationally with a 3-point shooting percentage of 37.5%. Their pace is is one thing that drives me bananas about Holtmann teams. They play really slow. Thought that might change this season, and it started promising. But they’ve reverted. Esp with the depth they have would like to see them play with a little more pace.
