Four years ago, President Trump won Wisconsin by less than 1 percentage point. This year is also expected to be close. MorningEdition spoke with some voters there to hear more about what's motivating them:

So she decided to take action. She figured there had to be 22,748 or so people she could persuade to vote this time. That's how, in 2017, Black Leaders Organizing for Communities was born — with the mission of increasing voter turnout among Milwaukee's Black community.

"It's important to know the power of our vote and that you can't win a statewide election if you don't engage Black and brown voters," she said."And that happened in 2016."Keith JohnsonKeith Johnson, an assistant manager at a Milwaukee Dollar Tree, has been skeptical about taking part in the voting process.

The logistics. The how. No one had ever told him that. And as for the why? His mom's friend didn't make any promises. She just said, you know, for a long time Black people couldn't. She might have stayed lost. She finished high school in 2016, had a daughter and got a job in a Milwaukee café. But she realized she reached a dead end, professionally.

MorningEdition America needs a different voting system. If the majority of the people voted for one candidate, that person should become president. Simple as that.

MorningEdition This time last year Killary was projected to win in all the polls...remember that? 😂

MorningEdition They watch Faux Entertainment News, of course!

MorningEdition Wisconsin was one of the first states directly hurt by Trump policy in trade and immigration. Now the coronavirus is beginning it’s devastation. If the good people of Wisconsin can’t figure it out, there’s no helping them. Seems an easy choice to see Trump gone. Save yourselves.

MorningEdition I don't see how that's possible when observing rally turnout, and even DNC primary turnout, for Biden.

MorningEdition Wisconsin is turning into the butthole of America.

MorningEdition Just don’t see how anyone can vote for Biden. Forget the fact of being a career politician that has no accomplishments to speak of. He clearly has a neurological condition and is unable to work but a couple of hours a week

MorningEdition I don’t trust media theses day. Trump will win bigger that 2016.

MorningEdition DUMP HITLER tRUMP. DEFEAT CRIMINAL AND CORRUPT REPUBLICONS FOREVER. FIX CLIMATE CHANGE, NOT ELECTIONS. FIX PANDEMICS, NOT ELECTIONS. JAIL FOR THE trump CRIME FAMILY FOREVER.

MorningEdition Blame the DNC and JoeBiden for not appealing to voters. Why are they supposed to be excited about another corporate-cuck-candidate when that's exactly what helped elect trump in 2016?

MorningEdition Behind by what 17 points and still expecting it to be close, I don't think most people understand how numbers work.

Trump motivates Biden voters just as much as the Democrat does: PollSome Democrat voters see their ballot as a 'vote for Biden',while others see it as a 'vote against Trump', a new poll suggests. I have never made sure so many ppl are registered. VoteThemOut Motivated to “settle for Biden.” Please, there is no enthusiasm there. I’m not surprised by this. Lots of Americans don’t pay attention to politics, but tRump is such a liability/threat & millions are tired of his b.s. circus sideshow of a Presidency & motivated to vote. That said, I think this oversimplifies things b/c policy matters a lot still.
