Dr. Saqib Shahab has said while current outbreaks are concerning, there are fewer severe outcomes when compared to past years.

During that outbreak, 194 of 198 residents got COVID-19 and 39 of them died. Three others who also got COVID-19 died of other causes.

In accordance with the ombudsman’s recommendations, Parkside has one portable air handling unit on each of the three smaller wings. It also has two portable air handling units in the larger wing.According to the epidemiology report, which encompasses the period of Aug. 14 to Sept. 10, an average of 149 people with COVID-19 were admitted to provincial hospitals each week, compared to an average of 139 per week during the period of July 17 to Aug. 13. Thirty-eight people were in ICU.

Epidemiologists have said previously Saskatchewan is on the cusp of entering another wave, given COVID-19, like other respiratory viruses, becomes more prevalent during the colder months.
