Artist Marina Abramovic opens exhibition in her native Belgrade for the first time in 44 years

Performance artist Marina Abramovic opened an exhibition in her hometown Belgrade for the first time in 44 years with her retrospective"The Cleaner."

Abramovic summoned journalists to Belgrade's Museum of Contemporary Art at the crack of dawn on Saturday for the symbolic opening of her retrospective "The Cleaner." Born in Belgrade, Abramovic studied and launched her career in the Serbian capital before moving abroad in 1975. Her show "The Cleaner" contains more than 100 videos, photographs, paintings and live re-creations of her performances over the past decades.
