The District 230 Foundation recently added eight members to its Legacy Hall, which was established to recognize and honor graduates from Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew high schools who make an impact in their careers, their families and their communities. The 2023 inductees include: Badie Ali, a 2000 graduate of Sandburg, the executive vice president of MPI Media Group in Chicago, a community advocate in Orland Park and one of the co-founders of Orland Park Prayer Center.
The work is being done in stages so that no more than two of the stations are closed at one time. The 79th St. Chatham closed for reconstruction in July and work on 87th Street/Woodruff is scheduled to begin when 79th/Chatham reopens next spring. When completed, all three stations will have enclosed, ADA-accessible street-level entrances and lobbies with elevators; new stairs and headhouses; new composite deck platforms; and new lighting and signage.
