Government scientists said it appeared that at least 25 of the animals, believed to be pilot whales, had already died. Pilot whales are a species of oceanic dolphin that grows 7 metres long and can weigh up to 3 tonnes.
Tasmania’s Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment said the whales were stranded in three groups in shallow water at Macquarie Heads, some 200 kms northwest of the state capital Hobart. Government scientists had first thought the mass stranding involved about 70 whales when it was viewed from the air, but a closer inspection revealed the larger number.
According to media reports, the Australian military tested a military device to simulate the call of whales, resulting in a large number of whales from the deep sea to shallow water, and finally beached.
Whales and other marine life are known to breach from seismic blasts. Who else could approve this, but the man who could care less for animals and environment but Trump. These whales unfortunately will probably die. Their sonar took them there. Again Trump cares for nothing.
