Armed men rob pedestrian in downtown Palo Alto

PALO ALTO – Authorities are investigating the armed robbery of a pedestrian in downtown Palo Alto.

An investigation revealed the victim had been walking when he was approached by the suspects, who told him to empty his pockets, police said. One of the men reportedly lifted his sweatshirt to reveal a black handgun tucked into his waistband. The suspects kept two of the victim’s credit cards and walked away eastbound on University Avenue, police said.Police are checking to see if the armed robbery is connected to an earlier cellphone theft. A woman was walking on the 2000 block of Webster Street at 9:41 a.m. Monday when two people snatched her cellphone out of her hands and got into a car parked nearby
