The state’s response invoked the Constitution, referencing its protection of the states and their rights to defend themselves.

Gov. Doug Ducey delivers a statement during a news conference in front of a border gap near the Morelos Dam covered by shipping containers.State officials refuted Tuesday any violation of federal law regarding the state's unauthorized placement of shipping containers to fill gaps along the Arizona-Mexico border wall near Yuma.

Ducey’s placement of shipping containers along the border has drawn criticism from elected officials and environmental advocates who have referred to the initiative as a “political stunt.” The bureau’s letter called for the removal of the containers and for any placement of new containers to stop. The bureau wanted to avoid interference with recently awarded federal contracts to close the border wall gaps near the Morelos Dam near Yuma, the letter says.

Of those containers, 122 were placed on Bureau of Reclamation land and on Reclamation “rights-of-way” within the exterior boundaries of the Cocopah Indian Tribe’s West Reservation, the letter states. Two of the gaps are on Bureau of Reclamation land, according to the letter. “We believe it's well within Arizona's rights to take this action and that's what Governor Ducey did,” Ducey spokesperson C.J. Karamargin said.

In July, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas authorized CBP to close the gaps in the border wall near the dam to address operational impacts and immediate life and safety risks. “The project area is located on federal land that was previously disturbed by other construction activities.”Barnes said the purpose of the federal project is to route migrant traffic to safer locations where migrants can be quickly transported for medical attention; provide improved security and reduce injury and death during crossing; and to protect existing U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission and Bureau of Reclamation infrastructure at the location.

What a waste of my tax dollars. Way to go Doug Ducey. We have terrible crime in our state and that is because of your administration. KariLake Blakemasters extremists

Arizona officials have no clue how to follow the law, so why would they think they broke any.

He needs to just leave. Nothing more to say.

Doucy can't find a way to fund our schools or pay our teachers but he has endless energy and taxpayer dollars for political stunts to serve his future political aspirations. Elect Quari Lake and you'll get a continuance of wasteful do-nothing ego boosters.

Dishonest sycophants.

DBChirpy Unfortunately for Ducey he forgets Fed law supercedes state law. On Fed land. Feds go in, remove them, send the bill to Arizona. azds AzCapitolTimes azfamily AZMorningNews azds TucsonStar laughlinbuzz

Oh well if Arizona officials say it…

Laws don't apply to Republicans, especially high ranking public officials.

When it comes to state rights versus Federal rights the federal government always wins. The federal government always legislates what goes on between borders between states and borders between countries. So yes do she has violated Federal law.

It’s not what Arizonans say, it is what the Federal statutes say concerning the country’s borders. Perhaps Arizona needs to up their understanding of the law.

No permits, no environmental impact reviews, no structural engineering stamp, no anchorages to the ground, no view for authorities, ah I miss my old plan review days. No plans, no specifications, no natural interior ventilation, no applicant, no inspections. DHSgov MSNBC CNN

Not even any laws about taste or aesthetics?

Of coarse, the lawless corrupt biden cartel is blowin the smoke. Toss the department of the interior out of Arizona. We can manage our own resources.
