Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is favorited to beat her Democrat opponent, Katie Hobbs in the 2022 election.
Lake is a former Arizona television anchor, so she is very familiar to Arizona voters, and knows exactly how the “corporate propaganda machine” works to spread fake news. Lake is a political newcomer, and tells KUSI’s Lauren Phinney she never thought she would be running for political office. But after retiring from her long career as a news anchor, Lake explained her phone never stopped ringing, as people continuously urged her to run for office.
Lake’s campaign has been the target of vicious media attacks since day one, but it has only resulted in stronger support among the people of Arizona. Last week, Lake directly called out reporters for falsely tying her to a story of a break-in at her opponents office. The media reported the story using a picture of Lake, insinuating that she was behind the break-in, a perfect example of fake news.
In reality, a homeless man broke in to Hobbs’ office, and the man was known to local law enforcement for regularly breaking and entering.
