Three men were arrested Friday after a man was allegedly shot to death over rent money, court records show.
Peter Balraj, 59; Joshua James Walls, 19; and Adrian Louis Gomez, 25, were charged with murder in connection with the death of 32-year-old Christopher Michael Vargas. Walls and Balraj are being held on $200,000 bail each, while Gomez is being held on $225,000 bail. On Dec. 30, San Antonio police were called to the 3200 block of Nantucket Drive, where they found Vargas dead in the residence with a gunshot wound to his hip. He was surrounded by blood, and police found a knife and a spent shell casing near the body, an affidavit supporting the arrests said.
A witness told police that Vargas was renting a bedroom from Balraj and was two months behind on rent.Police learned that someone from the residence had called 911 on Dec. 18 for a disturbance involving a gun. The 911 call taker said that males could be heard arguing in the background of the call, including one male asking another to put away a gun, the affidavit said. A second male could be heard saying that he was not going to drop the knife because the other man had a gun. This is a carousel.
