by LENNY COHEN | The National DeskJohn Desmond Turquand was charged with improper exhibition of a weapon, April 16, 2024. A man involved in "ongoing verbal altercation s" with his next-door neighbors "over animals coming onto his lawn" ended up arrested after police got a weapon complaint.
According to his arrest report, John Desmond Turquand told officers in Florida “he had overheard a conversation his neighbors/victim were having in the front of his yard about shooting his dog.” Then, last Tuesday, April 16, he “approached the victim to confront her about the conversation the victim began getting agitated with the verbal altercation.
“The defendant stated he withdrew his concealed firearm from his waist belt, still in the holster, while keeping it pointed at the ground.As for the victim, she told police the same thing, and she “feared the defendant was going to use the firearm on her due to his current agitated state.Turquand, 82, was charged with improper exhibition of a weapon and released from jail less than two hours later, in lieu of $1,000 bond.
