Courts in Houston are overloaded with eviction filings after local moratorium expired in May—and the end of federal protections could lead to more

It was 9:07 a.m. when Cammessia Mitchell started banging on a courtroom door in Southwest Houston.

She thought she was early for her June eviction hearing. Minutes later, she learned that her landlord had already won the case. She is appealing the decision next month, but if she loses Ms. Mitchell could be kicked out of her home of 14 years because of the rent payments she has missed during the pandemic after losing her job.

Who is paying the rent then? Is this forced involuntary servitude in part of the landlord? How about everybody who is promoting this open up their house for these people. For free. Oh, no? Hypocrisy is strong with twitter mob and politicians.

It's going to help flip the state from red to blue. Good job guys.

Soon to be a national problem. So much winning, the orange asshole was right, I am sick of it.

This is 100% on Trump!!!

If they didn't want to be evicted they simply shouldn't have been poor. What's so hard to understand?

Are unemployment checks not enough to cover rent? The government should just subsidize this housing and make a deal with landlords until people can get back to work.

Get a job!
