On Sept. 20, 2022, Elder walked into a bank in San Francisco’s Marina District and demanded $50 and $100 bills, according to prosecutors. He escaped with over $10,000 in cash but was arrested two days later in Pleasant Hill while allegedly shoplifting a videogame console. Elder has been convicted of 11 other thefts in state court, including an incident during which he slashed a loss prevention officer with a box cutter, according to prosecutors.
