The court ruled that a medieval sculpture can remain on the outside of a church in Wittenberg, despite acknowledging that it is anti-Semitic

The sandstone carving, which has been part of the exterior of Wittenberg Stadtkirche -- or city church -- since around 1290, depicts two people identified as Jews by their pointed hats suckling a pig -- regarded as unclean in the Jewish religion. Another man, a caricature of a rabbi, raises the pig's tail and looks into her backside.

But on Tuesday the Federal Court of Justice upheld rulings from lower courts that dismissed the case, saying there was no breach of the law. Speaking by telephone from Bonn, Düllmann said the court's decision was an"underestimation of the real danger" of the sculpture.

History is history so don't try to change it.

Its called....HISTORY. Some of it reminds us of WHAT NOT TO DO. No need to hurt feelings.

If they’d tore down everything antisemitic they would have to tore down most of Europe’s old cathedrals, starting with Chartres.

Germans gotta German…

A lot of things in human history were (are) awful. Slavery, wars, racism, violence, and the list is going... Nevertheless I can't understand the attempts to 'clean' the past or to 'erase' it by destroying physical evidence. 1/2

Happy the Elephant Isn't a Person, Top New York Court RulesNew York’s top court on Tuesday rejected an effort to free Happy the elephant from the Bronx Zoo, ruling that she does not meet the definition of “person” who is being illegally confined. Give them enough money and a lawyer will not only claim Happy is a human, but that Happy is transitioning into a hummingbird, so we'll need feeders capable of weights up to 4,000 pounds, and if we question that, we're Nazis.
