Four years after the death of Anthony Avalos, a 10-year-old boy from Lancaster, his mother and her boyfriend are set to go to trial on murder, torture and child abuse charges.

Among those who called the hotline and is scheduled to testify is Barron's brother, David. He and his wife Maria have been fierce advocates in the quest to get justice for Anthony.

"Let me tell you, he gave the most amazing hugs ever," said Maria Barron. "He was always ready to let you know how much he loves you.""At the time, there was no fish in the lake, so I went to the store and I bought fish, put it on a hook and threw it out there and they all took turns thinking they caught fish," said David. "That was one of my last memories of Anthony.""We're almost there," said Maria Barron.

If convicted, Heather Barron and Leiva face a maximum possible sentence of life in prison without parole. Prosecutors originally sought the death penalty, but the District Attorney's Office reversed course in May 2021.

'eye for an eye'🔥🙏

They are the reason the death penalty should be a rare but viable option.

already

Tie them up together to a pole and whip them !

“Your honor” *flips bang*

Hopefully this low life will face capital punishment.

Solitary confinement instead of the death penalty

If your defense attorney looks like that, you're 100% going to jail

The family sued. Got money but didn’t save boy ridiculous

Justice delayed is Justice denied! DCFS needs to be held accountable too!

and the News doesn't even post the obvious question... that everyone one has... WHY ... does it take 4 yrs to go to trial? - WHY do the criminals get yrs of delays & continuences? & WHY do the taxpayers fund their trial?

I'm glad California doesn't have the Death Penalty. This type of people should rot rest of their lives in prison

why are they still alive?

I do t believe in the death penalty but these two make me rethink that.

When is San Bernardino County becoming it's own state? No one wants it in California.

What about those damn employees from the state ? CS, oh yeah they got off easily... Our damn system ... Poor kid
