Elementary school teacher, Janet Baldwin receives a Covid booster shot on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 at Houston Health Department’s Northside Health Center in Houston. “I wanted to make sure I got my booster before school started again on Monday,” Baldwin said.
Houston experts say it would be a reasonable evolution of a lagging vaccination effort. Only about 15 percent of Americans have taken advantage of the bivalent booster, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Establishing a routine could improve uptake, said Dr. Ashley Drews, an epidemiologist and medical director of infection prevention and control at Houston Methodist.
Hotez generally agrees with the idea of annual vaccinations, but said he prefers a twice-a-year routine to account for the anticipated summer and winter surges each year. “There’s just not the money from the federal government to pay for more than one dose” per year, Hotez said.
My goodness 😏
F that. Will not comply.
Current covid vaccines only work well for 6 month. And the FDA is pushing once a year boosters? You’re killing us FDA. If we want to skip the jab, that’s our choice. But let us have access to proper medical treatment if we want it.
PeterHotez LOL. Vaccinate against the variants that were dominant 3 months ago? Worthless.
PeterHotez ‘The new approach is a “no-brainer” to Dr. Peter Hotez.’ In this case PeterHotez I agree with you as long as you meant the literal definition of “no-brainer”. Annual vaccination for all with a low VE against a mostly low risk virus makes no sense. Flu shot is the same.
PeterHotez do you have a version that isn't blocked by paywall, please?
PeterHotez paywall....
Nope
Why would anyone take a 'clot-shot?'
Hotez is a FRAUD.
PeterHotez Sell, sell, sell!
Placating the masses while marching them into a virtual viral cattle car. If most ppl have had covid, most ppl are not healthy. Vax mfg say they will lag 6 mo behind circulating viruses. 2Xs/yr per Hotez is a start. Is anyone even looking at timing based on ppl's waning immunity?
Of course, PeterHotez is correct: science indicates that 2 boosters per year would be more effective. However, the FDA wishes COVID behaved like the flu, so they play 'Let's Pretend' and indulge their fantasy. COVID isn't the flu, and magical thinking will get people killed.
PeterHotez Why is the choice of the vaccine type and manufacturers so limited? Is that for economical or political reasons? In the European Union individuals have more options.
PeterHotez I think this is the better alternative to one vaccine, then anew vaccine to one specific kind of Covid and 5 booster, I must say! Too many people are afraid of side effects, however!
PeterHotez Nice pay wall.
