Anna Sui’s Mod Makeup Was Inspired by This Cult Jane Birkin Film

For fall 2021, the designer dipped into her favorite film archive and landed on a cult classic firmly entrenched in the mod scene.

“The collection inspiration came from the 1968 movie, which was produced by George Harrison,” explains Pat McGrath, Sui’s longtime collaborator who conceptualized this season’s makeup looks. “It was about a swinging ’60s fashion model living next door to a conventional scientist, who is glimpsing a view into her colorful, beautiful, and psychedelic world.
