There is video evidence showing his mic was cut off. NBC is simply trying to cover up a repeated bias against Yang. Which includes excluding a photo of him when NBC posted pictures of all the candidates. Instead of Yang, They included other people not even in the debate.

There's footage of him speaking and both Biden and Bernie turning to look at him and there being no sound through the mic.
His mic was working just fine as he stumbled and tripped over his first answer of the night.
