The Anchorage Assembly is scheduled to consider a measure that would add to city code a process for removing a mayor from office for a “breach of the public trust.”

Anchorage Assembly Chair Suzanne LaFrance and Vice Chair Christopher Constant listen to public testimony during the assembly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021. that would add to city code a process for removing the mayor from office for a “breach of the public trust.”Assembly leaders said there is no effort afoot to remove Bronson from office.

Right now, outside of regular elections, mayors can only be removed through recall. The ordinance would not affect the public’s ability to recall a mayor.the Assembly-approved city budget earlier this year, which Constant said he believes was an “illegal stretch of executive authority over the legislative power.” Other Assembly members have also called the administration’s move to initially use its own budget illegal and unprecedented.

The mayor’s office will not comment on the matter until the ordinance is formally introduced, he said. It is on the agenda for introduction at the Assembly’s Tuesday meeting.said he is against the ordinance, and said he believes elected officials should be removed from office by the public via recall and the legal system for serious convictions such as felony charges.

Please do.

Those Far Left people on the Assembly just cannot be happy with anyone who disagrees with them. Why do people keep Voting them in? They are adamant to Recall any Member, Mayor, and Governor that tries to do good things for Anchorage. I think they are jealous of anyone who comes

How about illegal fund re-allocating?

Anyone who actually read the ordinance knows that it covers all elected officials in the Municipality. It seems the ADN's core audience is heavy with those who have been plotting against Bronson from the start. Only mentioning the mayor is obviously intended to rally the troops.

Let’s get it done!!

Maybe they could slide into code a reciprocal clause where the Mayor could remove an Assembly member for same? See the problem?

Now what happened 🤦🏾‍♂️

Please do. I support the removal of mayor_bronson 1,000,000%

That doesn’t seem very democratic.

100% on board. This mayor may end up being one of the worst on record, and not even for alaska but like all mayor records.
