Al Franken in 2017 had always seemed likely to loom over the 2020 Democratic presidential race. The role of one of the candidates, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand , in getting the whole thing started has, to this day, made her persona non grata with some key Democratic donors and activists.
The parallels between the Franken and Biden situations are limited but real. Franken faced multiple women, including broadcaster and model Leann Tweeden, who accused him of groping her and of an unwanted kiss while rehearsing a sketch for a USO tour. A number of other women, including a few who were named, alleged that Franken touched them inappropriately. Two unnamed women also alleged attempted forcible kisses by Franken.
But one woman who has featured prominently in those examples, former defense secretary Ash Carter’s wife, Stephanie Carter, has said she did not feel violated. The image of Stephanie Carter looks a lot like what Flores described — Biden being behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders, getting very close and whispering in her ear. But she interpreted it quite differently than did Flores.
Then that approach abruptly ended the career of one of the party’s favorite liberals in the Senate, Franken, who was also rumored as a potential 2020 candidate. To this day, there are whispers about the possible political motivations of Tweeden . Some of Franken’s supporters have expressed doubts that he was even capable of such actions.
I think we need Joe Biden. We need to bring back compassion, kindness, consideration back in this country. A man can be all of that and be strong, firm and a great leader.
alfranken should return to politics. He’s awesome at his job. Loved how he grilled DeVoss. I don’t think 🤔 it was a coincidence that after he exposed DeVoss for her ignorance, he was exposed for something that happened years ago.
If by “specter” you mean “they both have photographic evidence of doing inappropriate things and Biden should do the right thing and step out of politics like Franken did” then sure

The two parties differ in their approach to allegations of sexual misconduct. Democrats...get the rope. Republicans...hey, they weren’t related and/or the same sex...play on.
Al Franken took responsibility for 8 credible reports of sexual misconduct. He is an adult. He resigned of his own free will. Kirsten Gillibrand was not his boss - the citizens of Minnesota are - and she should not be pilloried for expressing her own opinion on metoo
