The Cybersecurity 202: Nielsen’s departure will hurt DHS cybersecurity mission, experts say

“It will probably be a long time before we have a future DHS Secretary that has the cybersecurity credentials of Kirstjen Nielsen. It seems like a missed opportunity that more progress wasn't made under her tenure.’’“It seems logical to conclude that the changes at DHS signal the president's focus on and prioritization of border security and immigration policy at DHS. Whether this will practically impact CISA's work and mission remains to be seen.

— Sam Visner, director of the National Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center, managed by the Mitre Corporation. In this court sketch, Yujing Zhang listens to a hearing before Magistrate Judge William Matthewman in West Palm Beach, Fla. During that hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge William Matthewman denied Zhang’s request to be released on bail citing the risk she'd flee to China, Lori and Mark reported. It seemed that “Ms. Zhang was up to something nefarious,” when she entered Mar-a-Lago, Matthewman said. He called the fact she was caught with numerous other electronic devices in addition to the thumb drive"especially troubling.

It’s a testament to how far we’ve sunk when the loss of the child-caging lady results in a degradation of our security. I guess in a country where national security risks like Jared and Ivanka get security clearances over the objections of professionals this shouldn’t be a shock.

dont let the door hit on the way out!!

Amusing. We are not intimidated by your threats. LUKE 14:31-33

Cyber security? What cyber security mission would that be? Looks like Putin will have to go alone on this then 🤷‍♂️

you mean Putin won't be in charge anymore?

It was going so well tho

The majority of the experts interviewed are clowns. It will remain a priority. If it doesn’t, that’s more a commentary on the failure of civili service than the interests of senior appointees.

why not give her a job in cyber security as our government needs all the help it can get to update our cyber security! Trump give her a job updating our systems to make it safer!

This is stupid, she's an administrator, not some cybersecurity genius.

Counterpoint: Nielsen is a monster who belongs in The Hague for Crimes against Humanity - not ANYWHERE near the levers of power of US National Security.

Um - then the cybersecurity mission better raise its standards.

Okay, I shall have to research what she was doing for cybersecurity. Hopeful...

Are these the same 'experts' that said Trump would be found guilty of obstruction? Keep selling Fear, it seems like it's keeping the bill paid.....
