You make it sound awful that the legislature might have to raise taxes. For years, the legislature has passed the buck to school districts to raise taxes, while bragging how the legislature has not.
Here are my facts and figures for my school district, East Pennsboro. You have been in the legislature since 2009 and all of which have occurred on your watch.They have just kicked the school funding responsibilities down to the local school districts. Home owners and businesses, compare your school real estate taxes for 2011 and 2015 thru 2022. See how much they increased.Year 2015: School Property Taxes Paid -- $2479Increase in school taxes since 2022 -- $700 or a 31.9 percent increaseLast year was the first significant increase in school funding. It was too little, too late. The state courts have ordered you to correct funding and develop a fairer way to distribute school funds.
