After a manipulation check, researchers assessed closeness, satisfaction, and commitment, as described earlier. In addition, compassionate love was assessed using the Compassionate Love Scale, whereas passionate love was evaluated with a shortened version of the Passionate Love Scale. Last, relationship optimism and romantic connectedness were evaluated using measures adapted from previous studies.Individuals in the romantic nostalgia group, versus the control group, “reported higher levels of romantic connectedness, relationship optimism, closeness, satisfaction, compassionate love, and passionate love.” They “also reported higher commitment,” but “this difference was not statistically significant.
