An Alamo Drafthouse worker was fired after workers protested for more pay. His union calls it retaliation. | seippetc

Workers at Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar started a labor union in February in an effort to bargain for higher pay and more transparency in the workplace.

Corpstein said Alamo Drafthouse's unresponsiveness to the union is what workers have been dealing with since they went public with their union back in February. “We wanted to send a message to corporate,” he said. “And how best to do that other than disrupting business sales for a day in one of the most profitable locations in the country?”

I'm old enough to remember when you looked for a better job if you wanted/needed more pay. We all knew what the ceilings were in entry-level jobs & let's face it; if you're bringing me popcorn & drink refills during a movie, there ain't tons of headroom. May he land on his feet.

Well 🤷
