LONDON—David Swanson sheepishly shoved the bill back in his wallet. His crime? Trying to pay for two pints in a British pub with Scottish money.“I wish I had a pound”—an English one, that is—“for every time I’ve had to explain that they’re okay,” Mr.
Eh? Have a wee look into the polling if Remain and Leave are used in any far off second referendum rather than the biased Yes and No. Get it right.
Actually, the Scottish Smackaroon would be a perfect name. I am dead serious.
Now, if Northern Ireland voted to join the rest of Ireland, then all that would be left of the UK would be England and Wales. The Balkanization of Great Britain. That's what the people voted for, isn't it?
More like you are in full propoganda mode as it draws closer.
Not going to happen. Idle threat from pro-EU forces.
Love this!
kevinbridges86 Mentioned in WSJ article. Finally arrived!
They should use XRP
Oh no! Creating a new fiat? How will that ever be accomplished?
Yaldy kevinbridges86
They should switch to cryptocurrency.
rivluc Technically, even BoE notes are not 'legal tender' north of the border. Both are, however, legal currency (i.e. sanctioned by Parliament). Oh, and Scottish banknotes are not 'legal tender' even in Scotland.
So how can a Scottish court rule on the England based parliament?
Misinformation. Legally speaking, Scottish notes aren't legal tender anywhere, even in Scotland. Pragmatically, Scottish notes can be accepted anywhere English notes can be.
Utter bollocks, of course they are.
Sounds like have-cake-and-eat-it-too , like the brexit deal May wanted EU to sign🤓
Scotland should have grabbed their independence when they had the chance!
heraldscotland
of course they are!
What a stupid article
The continued practice of Brits being able to reject Scottish notes is demeaning, ignorant and poor business. Especially in light of the Brexit debacle, Scotland should tell England to kick rocks.
and why is it not legal to the England?..does that union work there?
Lies. Scottish pound? It's called pounds sterling, get it right. It's accepted anywhere in the UK, that means N Ireland, Wales, England and even the Isle of Man.
I use Scottish notes in england all the time.
Scottish Pounds aren’t legal tender in Scotland either! What on earth are you talking about!

They are legal tender ffs!
As we move to a cashless society this will become less of a problem.
Scottish pounds are legal tender in the UK although not in general circulation in England it is issued by the BoE..... yet again the WSJ is reporting inaccurately so get it right
Who wrote that load of rubbish. the Brexit has split the families and the UK. the currency is not an issue at all.
Yes they are, I’ve spent a Scottish £5 today
It’s inevitable at some point that Scotland will be independent. They will keep having referendums and it’s so close to the 50% mark that at some point the mood will be over 50%. Then there will not be a referendum to rejoin so ... Scotland will leave at some point.
yup defs a divide
