The SUV is expected to hit the market in 2026, with a possible Vision concept giving us a preview. The world of performance SUV s may soon gain a new member from Mercedes's AMG division. Reports suggest that the Affalterbach-based brand is developing a standalone flagship SUV , built on a unique EV platform boasting over 1,000 hp.
The 800V electric platform will feature a high-performance battery pack, and axial flux electric motors by Yasa exclusively developed for AMG. The combined output is rumored to exceed the psychological barrier of 1,000 hp , transmitted to all four wheels. We expect the next-gen AMG EVs to feature sophisticated torque-vectoring abilities, a self-leveling active suspension system, and four-wheel steering.
