American has been leaving the equivalent of half the middle seats in economy cabins empty to facilitate social distancing, filling planes to about 85% of capacity. The airline said Friday that it will stop that practice July 1, while continuing to alert passengers when their flights are filling up, giving them the chance to switch free of charge.

If Airlines want passengers to return they'll need a highly reliable, fast test for Coronavirus (similar to what the White House uses) used during TSA inspection. Passengers testing positive would not be allowed to fly. Only THEN will 'at risk' people feel safe to fly.

Called AmericanAir about my flight and they won’t issue refunds even if you booked flights before this announcement. You get a credit to use on an airline you know longer trust. I had a feeling I should have paid more for a flight with Delta or SouthwestAir instead

Sadly this is not new. I flew American in early June & they were already booking full flights, middle seat & all. What's worse, there was no indication in my booking or email confirmations that this would be the case. I only found this out after I boarded the plane. AmericanAir

I have been an elite AA Executive Platinum traveler for over 20 years. Over 5 million miles flown. Is this is indeed true I won’t fly until American gets its act together. There is no need to fly if I am going to get infected because AA is not following social distance guidelines

They haven’t been limiting number of passengers anyways. Flight 2 days ago was 95% full. Same with flights a few weeks ago.
