American Airlines’ union pilots are picketing Thursday at DFW International Airport as they push for a new contract with the Dallas-based carrier, but the employees aren’t ready to walk off of airplanes and off the job anytime soon.It was the second year of massive losses for American Airlines, which has become the norm an industry that had to rely on massive amounts of debt and government assistance to survive the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

American’s $9.4 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter was the best sales figure the company has recorded since the COVID-19 pandemic began, more than double the number American saw in the fourth quarter of 2020. However, revenue was still 17% lower than during the same quarter in 2019.
