Yeah but the deficit is 1Trillion soooooooooooo not helping at all

If only someone could show the debilitating effects of tariffs on businesses to Trump. Countries like Ethiopia are a good showcase of how inefficient government imposed tariffs have chocked the local economy and discouraged investment.

Domestic firms are not bearing the brunt of this cost, neither consumers.

Does it do anything to balance our budget?

And all paid by American - not foreign - business

Not bad, at least somebody got benefits 😜

Paid mostly by US businesses

Almost 1 percent ofthe deficit he has created. Excellent work Don!

They should probably stick to border protection and customs.

From the pockets of everyday working American taxpayers ...

But the consumer is paying.

And the cost of that? At least show both sides of the equation.

“American people see 7.1 billion dollar tax increase under Trump”. I fixed it.

Too many people don’t have a clue how this tariff really works. US companies are finding manuf. in other countries to buy goods from at cheaper prices due to the tariff and prices reduce for US. Short term pain from tariffs but in the long run China loses billions and we win.

Excellent move 👍

Trump has contrived the dumbest way to move wealth from American consumers into the Federal Treasury (while shrinking our economy)

Nobody said TradeWar is free…

Yep. Increasing taxes raises revenue. But there are better ways to increase taxes.

Tariffs are charged on the importing economy not the exporting

Has 'The Economist' forgotten that 'we the people' pay for everything?

It's simple. Trump means business.

“Where economists would contradict Mr Trump is over his claim that his tariffs are “being charged to China”. In fact, the costs of these tariffs are borne largely by American firms and consumers.”

*Tax revenue

That’s the whole idea. It’s called Balancing Trade.

Gov't 'revenue' is generated from taxes(tariffs are a tax) and fees.....

Such a misinterpretation, it was stockpiling year

American soy farmers, steel-workers, and car factory workers are elated.

And how much of that is being used to subsidize the Farmers because of the trade war!

A tax. “Free trade, tariffs, & all that” YouTube video by Dr. Yaron Brook 14min Dr. Yaron Brook: author, world traveling defender of capitalism and debunker of socialism, chairman of the board of Ayn Rand Institute, prolific video creator. yaronbrook

Somebody is paying for this. Guess who it is.

This is and will be coming out of the wallets of American consumers and for the most part those who can least afford it

Almost covers the 12 billion farmer bailout

So this is hurting us how?,,

Recession will cost U.S trillions

Donald Trump's 'lose-lose' trade wars cost America and China $6bn in 2018The duel for economic superiority between Beijing and Washington D.C. has cost each country $2.9 billion a year. Yup. And let us not forget Mr. Art-of-the-Deal saying “Trade wars are easy to win”. Trump has no clue about economics, international relationships, or much of anything else. He’s only run a family business— badly, w/multiple bankruptcies. What a lousy POTUS! “Trade wars are easy to win!” Perhaps a suitable epitaph for the headstone of this presidency which has succeeded in bringing only division & chaos to society & the markets! And Putin says, good job Trump!

Farmers mock Donald Trump’s paltry aid payments over China trade warFarmers, particularly those growing corn and soybeans, have been affected by trade tensions between Washington and Beijing. Americans mock newsweek paltry attempt to be journalists. Given that these are the bumpkins that helped to give us Trump, it's hard to feel much empathy for them.
