The supply of homes for sale is near a record low, and the gap between supply and demand is widening as homebuilders struggle to keep up.

Some 12.3 million American households were formed from January 2012 to June 2021, but just 7 million new single-family homes were built during that time.PulteGroup just lowered its Q3 and full-year guidance for home closings, citing supply chain disruptions.

The U.S. is short 5.24 million homes, an increase of 1.4 million from the 2019 gap of 3.84 million, according to new research fromThe U.S. Census found that 12.3 million American households were formed from January 2012 to June 2021, but just 7 million new single-family homes were built during that time.

There wouldn't be a shortage issue now if developers and banks hadn't torn down all those homes after the 2008 housing crash.

Let them come to america….thats the main reason

Why using so much wood for house construction? Weren't you gonna fight climate change?

Looks like building technology in the US needs to evolve so that houses last a maximum of 50 years. Seems like everyone wants a new house, making it uneconomical to build long-lasting houses.

And how many of the unavailable homes are vacant?
