There wouldn't be a shortage issue now if developers and banks hadn't torn down all those homes after the 2008 housing crash.

Looks like building technology in the US needs to evolve so that houses last a maximum of 50 years. Seems like everyone wants a new house, making it uneconomical to build long-lasting houses.
