the W6400 posted modest improvements in standard office productivity applications but a huge boost in design applications, including an 87% boost using Rhino from McNeel and 409% boost using AutoCAD from Autodesk, over the previous generation AMD Radeon Pro WX3200.

Targeted applications for the various AMD Radeon Pro 6000 series graphics cardsAMD announced a new addition to its professional graphics lineup – the Radeon Pro W6400. Leveraging the same RDNA 2 graphics architecture as the Radeon Pro W6800 and W6600, the new W6400 fills out AMD’s Radeon Pro 6000 series professional graphics lineup with a card optimized for Computer Aided Design applications.

The CPU, GPU, and memory performance requirements vary between different professional applications, even within design and content creation. According to AMD, 2D CAD applications have an average memory requirement of 1.85GB, designers typically only require two displays, and the system configurations are often small form factors. AMD optimized the design of the W6400 round these requirements with and RDNA 2 GPU, 4GB of GDDR6 memory, 4x PCIe 4.0 lanes, and two full-size display ports.
