AMC Theatres will no longer play Universal films in the wake of comments made by about the on-demand success of TrollsWorldTour.

AMC Theatres delivered a blistering message to Universal Pictures late Tuesday, saying the world's largest cinema chain will no longer play any of the studio's films in the wake of comments made by NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell regarding the on-demand success ofEarlier, Universal revealed thatracked up an estimated $100 million in premium VOD rentals in its first three weeks of play in North America, more than enough to put the film on the road to profitability, according to the...

"It is disappointing to us, but Jeff’s comments as to Universal’s unilateral actions and intentions have left us with no choice. Therefore, effectively immediately AMC will no longer play any Universal movies in any of our theaters in the United States, Europe or the Middle East," Aron said in the letter.

“Universal does not have reason to use unusual circumstances in an unprecedented environment as a springboard to bypass true theatrical releases,” said NATO president and CEO John Fithian. “Theaters provide a beloved immersive, shared experience that cannot be replicated — an experience that many of the VOD viewers of this film would have participated in had the world not been sequestered at home, desperate for something new to watch with their families.

Amidst a global pandemic as a backdrop, I wish we were spared from also having to address a different issue that arises from Universal actions currently underway. Universal stated it only pursued a direct-to-home entertainment release for “Trolls World Tour” because theaters were closed and Universal was committed to a lucrative toy licensing deal. We had our doubts that this was wholly Universal’s motivations, as it has been a longstanding desire by Universal to go to the home day and date. Nonetheless, we accepted this action as an exception to our longstanding business practices in these unprecedented times.

Who would’ve ever thought that a sequel film based on a fuzzy haired toy would be a studio/theater relationship shattering event.

They believe in the theatrical experience but seem willing to bypass it even after the pandemic is over.

AMCTheatres is Chinese right? Acting like some damn bullies

So Universal backtracked. Now AMC needs to back down.

Somebody remember the war of RIAA vs Napster and the new technology? . And now , the music still sells and is alive , they had to adapt.

What fucking babies

misericórdia

The theaters and Universal need to stop throwing words at each other over social media and headlines. Universal broke a rule that NATO has had for years before any of this happened and it shouldn’t be tolerated by theaters but both sides are acting like children.

🤣AMC Theatres hahaha “left us with no choice”? Jeezus what a joke

I have to drive an hour to get to the closest movie theater. I honestly don’t even remember how long it’s been since I’ve gone to see a movie... like, a couple years at least. 🖕🏼AMC Theatres and 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Universal

AMC Theatres was acquired by Wanda Group, a Chinese conglomerate headquartered in Dalian, in May 2012. Wanda Group paid $2.6 billion to acquire AMC Theatres' 5,048 screens in 347 theaters in the U.S. and Canada JustStreamIt

Good! & Thank you UniversalPics this is the future &🖕🏻AMCTheatres

Because cutting off your nose to spite your face is always a good idea.

If I was Universal. I would just say. OK to AMC, your choice. The studio can make more money on shorter windows and PVOD. Studios don't get a share of all the confectionary/drinks that cinemas sell, yet cinemas get a cut of the BO

They will lose if they do that

'universal should've consulted with us how they conduct their business' is one hell of a take. I wonder if AMC has meetings with universal about how much they should charge for a soda..

It sound like AMC is loosing it. Why did this come to the media instead of settling between the partners shows obvious signs they are in crisis now, but after a while the business will continue as usual, probably with a new management who will change this decision.

As a father of 3, which includes a now 8 month old, movie-going is tough in venues that shame baby crying. If the claim is a whole family experience, then I’ll opt for the guilt-free comfort of my home theater. Sry AMCTheatres , TY NBCUniversal

AMC isn’t going to playing any movies in their theaters for a long time anyway. They’re gonna be empty. Universal wins.

Good grief. The films that they MIGHT put out for on demand, aren't going to be the huge money makers. Just like EVERY BUSINESS UniversalPics made a business model adjustment due to current circumstances. AMC and Regal need to take a seat. The cinematic experience isn't dead.

This is an incredibly bold stance from AMC considering they may not even survive the pandemic.

The future is online. I’d rather pay $20 for a movie online than a $100 night out for my family to see a movie.

Without blockbusters, big theaters are dead. There are over 190M streaming subscriptions in the US. This will only keep growing. Streaming revenue doubled theater revenue last year.

Nah, they know what they said. They got their balls kicked in by AMC and NATO so they are back tracking.

Universal is dumb for backing down. They should have doubled down. No one is going to theaters any time soon

Cool cool. I ain't goin near no movie theater any time soon so bring on the 20 dollar movies I have to pay for 35 times a week so my kids will let me exist.

its no time for gloating. You dont kick people when they are down. especially not your own partners!

I really don't think AMC wants to be playing this game. They will not win because straight to streaming is a profitable thing to do for people who can't make it to the movies.

Yes AMC, go on!! Respect the window!

Shell's remarks were clearly not thought out, and trying to backpedal is embarrassing. NATO and AMC were right to vocalize their displeasure loudly and forcefully.

The coroanvirus has accelerated a pivotal point in the way films are distributed and consumed by a greater audience; besides the advancement of Technology. Like the birth of the iPod in the Pop2K era. Movies entertainment Distribution Hollywood StayHome

Right, AMC is going to pass up that Fast 9 and Jurassic World money.

This is known in the business as a 'tantrum'. Universal made 100M without you, boys.

Why don’t all the studios band together and boycott AMC? AMC acts like they have the upper hand... they don’t.

These people are not in the best place to be petty lol

Those McElroy’s getting in the middle of drama

Meanwhile the other theater chains actually understand the situation at hand and don’t have a stick up their ass

Um, you know NATO is already something else, yeah? Talk about a confusing lede - I was wondering what the hell the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation had to do with it.

Well if this is the case I am completely switching to Regal or Alamo drafthouse, it’s a shame. Because I love Dolby cinema and only AMC has it.

And who owns amc? Hmmm

Did he say it while holding his blankie?

people are acting like AMC is the only one suffering here... the biggest movie theater chain in the world is refusing to show universal films. ur so stupid if you think universal doesnt give a fuck

What a big baby.

blockbusterbay the trolls movie is about to destroy movie theater relations forever.

Yes they will when people not coming I think releasing movies in the theaters and VOD is the best idea for this year.

Amc - Chinese owned by Wanda Group

That's a bad move

I would think that the movie theater business is highly in jeopardy even when we start reopening. People mostly watch films because of the film itself. I can’t imagine many people being loyal to a specific theater to watch the movies they want to see.

Prediction: There will soon be an AMC streaming service in which you will pay $19.99/month to watch 3 theatrical movies a week.

Jesus Christ AMCTheatres 🙄. Sure, publicly cut off a content source while there’s time for other studios and customers to take notice and make plans accordingly.

Trolls only did that well On Demand because the theaters weren't open. Stupid statement by Universal. Watching a film on the big screen is a special experience you can't get at home. We should trying to save the theaters not end them.

Wow that's just dumb. Regal and Cinemark will get AMC customers.

Death to the Movie Theatre!!! Release everything on-demand so we can avoid paying $40 for popcorn and sour patches.

LMAO they salty

Isn't AMC run by China?

They really aren't taking into account that every parent/caregiver was tasked with caring for kids 24/7 and desperately needed something, ANYTHING, to park the nose-pickers in front of.

Doesn’t universal still have some huge money making movies coming out this year

And like cab companies, AMC deserves to fail for their small vision and greedy practices. Movies deserve big screen viewings and streaming can never replace that experience. But a new breed or incarnation of the movie going experience must replace these awful chains.

I mean not only this is stupid, so much of the Trolls success is due to the fact that people need a kids movie to distract their children during quarantine regardless of quality

Why are they getting so mad if theaters aren’t even open? Not like Universal can give them the movie... to show to who Right?

Their motivation to profit at every interaction actually achieved the opposite; a decline and cheapening of the movie going experience. Now that digital disruption is not only at their doorstep, but in the same bed, the hour is late and the opportunity is missed...

You guys are so stupid. You’re only encouraging Universal to put movies on demand and angering your customers by refusing to play these films. All this in the midst of bankruptcy.

ManaByte Lil bitches can’t take a bit of competition😂😂😂

ManaByte

Remove AMCTheatres and replace RegalMovies instead

hankstv I say good for UniversalPics! Just as drive-in theaters have seen the sun set on their relevance, AMCTheatres is seeing the same for sit-down cinema. They're standing in the shadow of extinction & they're scared.

It’s because we’re in a PANDEMIC YOU IDIOTS

Welcome to the BlockBuster club, AMC.

They’re really going out of their way to go out of business, aren’t they?

Well, looks like AMCTheatres...got Trolled YEAHHHHH!!!!!

Universal would have made more if it waited. They are just glad to be making some money during the pandemic. The movie industry doesn't want this and it lessens the amount of money it brings in. They would have made more in theater then releasing it on blu ray for a double dip.

Pretty sure the news the last few weeks would indicate that AMC is not in a position to inflict this kind of wound on itself. And yet, here we are.

This cant be real

Fuck amc

If movie companies think I'm going to continue to pay the cost of a DVD to watch a movie once without the theater experience, they're wrong. The only reason we got TrollsWorldTour was because we couldn't take the kids to the theater. I'm not going to be paying that for myself.

Bad move on both parts

No films are playing in your theaters dudes.

Thank God I don't go to AMC. Classic Cinemas all the way.

Well that's dumb....

If theaters are open by October, Halloween Kills will more than likely be the biggest movie that month. AMC says they don't want any of that box office money. Why would a bankrupt theater chain leave money on the table over petty hurt feelings?

No Time to Die is unaffected since it distributed by United Artists Releasing thank god for that.

Well it was nice knowing you amc take care

Huge mistake on their behalf lmao

The company on the verge of bankruptcy? That AMC?

Gotta love when little kids on the play ground call each other names

Ok this is baffling? The Walking Dead films that is supposed to be by Universal according to the teaser That's if it comes out of course

Ha, like AMC is still gonna be around.

I don’t know about anyone else but around me there are better theaters than AMC.

Please have the issue fixed when in October and new Jurassic park 6 comes out

GraceRandolph look at them fighting words! The feud has begun!

That’s complete bullshit

I’d pay a premium price for a screening room experience - with 10-12 other people who actually want to sit and watch a frickin’ movie with their mouths shut.

okay

Now imagine them taking bailout money

deray More Power To AMCTheatres 👏👍TrollsWorldTour

AMC is bankrupt and will be lucky to even reopen a quarter of its theaters. Good luck with that plan...

.... well THAT sounds kinda petty! -_-

Terrible and shortsighted decision making on the part of AMCTheatres especially in these current times.. a silly and petty threat that has no real teeth and can only hurt AMC in the long run. If I'm UniversalPics, I'm investing in 1) more VOD and/or 2) AMC competition.

Big films won’t skip theatrical releases after the pandemic is over. The new Jurassic and Fast films are guaranteed to make a billion dollars a piece in the theater. No way that would happen as exclusive OnDemand releases. Plus piracy would be worse w/o theatrical releases first.

AMC just be digging their own grave after losing a little money over trolls lmaoooo

The cost of going to the movies for an entire family has gotten out of control. While $19.99 seemed like a lot for a movie rental - it was well worth it to watch at home with my own snacks on opening night.

This will not work out for AMC.

the same AMC thats about to go bankrupt?. You only hurting yourself but go off i guess

Sounds like they're having a right fit.

RIP AMC, I guess

Century theaters

GraceRandolph 😱

and this is exactly why no one goes to amc

I thought AMC would have wanted to get out of bankruptcy lol

Reasons why it's a success: 1. the demo is kids 2. Parents realize they can shut their kids up at home with the click of a button. 3. It's cute :)

With this long time at home I’m thinking manners/courtesy at theaters will be long gone. Talking over movies, making Tik Toks and who knows what else. VOD is the future and it’s time to just embrace it. Plus it’s a heck of a lot cheaper to sit on my own uncomfortable future.

They can't play anything anyway biiiiiiiiiiiiitch. You got COVIDed!

Shoot AMC is willfully going to go bankrupt? cool Showcase been better for a long time

Well this sounds smart, cutting their own throats to prove a meaningless point

deray BUGGY WHIP COMPANY REFUSES TO SELL BUGGY WHIPS TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Fighting change instead of working through it can cause far more damage.

Well, if this economy continues AMC may not be around long enough to test that bluff.

AMCTheatres this is unacceptable childish behavior of your CEO and off putting. This is an huge F you to the consumer who at the end of the wants a movie experience rather it be at home or in theatre. That would be good for us. Your decision is based purely on your bottom line.

They should boycott every studio, since artemisfowl Scoobydoo are going to stream too

If they move forward with their plan to release movies simultaneously on VOD and theaters, why would AMC want to split the revenue? They’re already battling pirates bringing cameras to theaters without having clear copies available on day one.

Just another sign that movie theaters are going the way of the dinosaurs...

GraceRandolph cover this in a video please 🥺🥺🥺

Petty

petty

Not the best business strategy lol

Looks like AMC theaters is gonna have to close down its theaters at Universal Citywalk.

Kings Movie theaters must be protected at all costs

deray The Karen movie

Theaters are gonna mess around and get pushed out of the way entirely with this entitled stance. I don’t know if this is possible, but I could see studios opening their own theaters if it came down to it.

Next up: After learning about dry land, nation’s leeches jealously ban humans from all swamps, creeks, & bogs.

AMC hasn't said shit about WB (releasing SCOOB), proving they're hypocrites, cause they know without that DCEU money they would be dead before they even have a chance to reopen.

Here is an informative video:

AMC is bankrupt. They won’t be playing anything.

deray Good luck with that.

What’s the problem ? 🤷🏽‍♂️

That’s petty af. I doubt they can even afford to do that for very long lol

Well unless you dont keep yapping about a new AMC esque company, then they have to try something to stay w the kids!!!😍 Idk.

Go bankrupt I guess

And this type of thinking and reaction will be why the theater business disappears from our world altogether eventually

deray If I were AMC I'd be rushing to appease Universal right now. The fact of the matter is that they and other studios are starting to realize that they can make more profit by cutting theaters out of the loop entirely.

Nothing says fuck you quite like...driving up demand on the platform you’re angry about? This feels like the equivalent of “fine! well if you love online streaming so much whY dOn’T yoU jUsT mARry IT!&!$”

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theater, but I do remember purposefully NOT going to an AMC theater when I did so I think I'm good.

Cut out the middle man! Put is ALL ONLINE!

This will be short-lived

I’m pretty sure there’s a legal precedent making this unlawful.

I respect it. Seems universal wants to get rid of theaters by lying about numbers.

Cinemas might just go the way of Block Buster. I love being able to watch new movies at home.

Let’s do it!! VOD

If you want to see a Universal movie, you will have to take the time to find a REAL movie theatre. I think Universal would be happy to know it means less of their movies being screwed up by AMC.

Amc will go bankrupt making decisions like will hurt them for ever

I hope AMC changes their mind about this. These films are some of the biggest blockbusters and it would hurt them to stop showing it. It's bad for Universal, and it's bad for the theaters.

So they're going bankrupt and then want to pick a fight with a studio? Are they trying to mess up their chances of coming back strong?

Lmao

People are still dying and some states won’t be back to normal for a while BUT this is news...... 😷🤷🏻‍♂️🤷‍♀️

don't worry they'll go out of business soon

That is a bad move by AMCTheatres due to the fact that most of the films being played are from UniversalPics hope they come to an agreement soon.

Wtfffffff

People watched that movie?

DanielRPK This move makes AMC look rather desperate....

Okay. Sent everything to VOD. Popcorn is cheaper at home.

trolls world tour ruining everything is poetic in a way

If I’ve learned anything in life it is that when things are uncertain it’s best to lash out...It totally doesn’t make you look like an insecure asshole.

This move will back fire, be walked back. Also, it’s a rebuke to theatres for charging $18 for 10 cents worth of popcorn.

Bullshit

I like going to the movies who doesn’t? This is just greed and pettiness at its worst.

“It’s not like people come to the theater for movies. They come for frozen chicken tenders and mini tacos.”

Universal finding out what I’ve known for years...movie theaters fucking suck and are no longer necessary.

Don’t understand Universal’s comments...Pretty sure the film made $100M on Demand because people were stuck at home. Not sure under other circumstances that film would of made that kind of cash streaming only.

Maybe I'm missreading the article but is AMC under the impression that Universal will release the SAME films in theaters and VOD at the SAME time? I thought Universal was suggesting they would have two SEPARATE slates, films exclusive to theaters, and films exclusive for VOD.

amc is naive thinking people will go back to the theaters as soon as they reopen. They need to readjust and studios won’t be giving them money for free. I dont feel bad for amc since theyve exploited fans in the name of capitalism for decades.

(•_•) ( •_•)⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)

“Trolls World Tour” is the hill you’re willing to die on, AMC? Really?

I get why AMC is upset about this, they see it as the beginning of the end. If you love seeing movies in theaters this news should scare the hell out of you.

DanielRPK Regal execs reading this news

That's quite petty, especially considering the state AMC theatres are currently in. Lol.

DanielRPK WHAT ABOUT HALLOWEEN?!?!?!

DanielRPK Fact is Universal jumped on a successful bandwagon; and realistically, as TV's and sound systems are in many cases, better than most domestic cinemas; with a more intimate, controlled setting... this is going to continue.

Let’s get something straight, I only watched that train wreck movie in my home because I am literally forced to be here. In no way am I hoping to continue to using my home as a movie theater when this is over .

Good for them! They don’t need to waste their time with small-fry outfits like [checks notes] NBCUniversal.

I am breaking up with YOU!

This is like when I tell my daughter she cannot watch TV and she storms away saying 'FINE! I'LL NEVER WATCH TV EVER AGAIN!!!'

their funeral. lol now that all movie studios are coming out with streaming services, they’re all gonna release their stuff at home. cause they know people will choose to stay home over being in a crowded auditorium with rude people, expensive snacks etc.

Lmao what an empty threat

What about the AMC at the Universal City Walk?! AWK!

So Universal decides to do something with their own property (which, to me, means both VOD and Theater release), and AMC throws a temper tantrum. I thought capitalists loved competition?

AMC selling the best damn buggy whips. Universal:

Kim people are dying

drafthouse cool story

Trolls. It took Trolls.

AMC is not making any friends here.

feistymexarican It's cute when rich people fight. *Turns back to home grown YouTube content*

Mousesteps Universal:

huh-

What if we promise to charge 50 bucks a head for snacks when we watch at home.

Bold strategy for a company that just weeks ago was rumored to be heading for bankruptcy.

They’ll change their tune by Jurassic world 3 😅

$100 for a family of 4 to go to the movies is ridiculous & the at-home option, especially for kids/family movies, is great. AMC can get over themselves.

erinlori

A few months without their movies and they’ll be begging to have universal come back. Without movies, no one is going to your theater.

GraceRandolph

Didn't the horse people say something similar when cars started to begin popular?

“Theaters provide a beloved immersive, shared experience that cannot be replicated — an experience that many of the VOD viewers of this film would have participated in had the world not been sequestered at home... ' PLEASE. I saved 60 bucks at least getting this for my girls.

So theyre just going to convert to screen golf?

Holy shit

Absolute BRUH moment

Looks like no one read the article .... Certainly understand what AMC is saying and am sure there will be other theater chains who will think the same way if Universal goes forward with plans.

Someone is bluffing with a pair of twos and the instructions.

DanielRPK AMC theaters in a couple of months

Seems short sighted. Don’t they realize that VOD was a success because 1. All theaters are closed, and 2. People are stuck at home. People aren’t going to give up theaters for VOD. Big screens are still amazing.

...

DanielRPK Aren’t they going bankrupt?

Bye bye AMCTheatres. It was nice knowing ya, but your best days are behind you. The world is moving on. Evolve or stagnate and wither away.

Are these guys stupid we only have an AMC in town I wanted to see F9 in theaters

I believe the technical term here is cutting off your nose to spite your face

Even if Universal released their movies in theaters and VOD at the same time a LOT of people would still go to the theaters if they can. Kind of a short-sighted reaction by AMC.

It’s universal’s fault. They said they’re gonna continue releasing films on vod as well as theaters. Why would amc just sit there and let themselves get screwed.

Mousesteps What a childish response

Very silly move by AMC

AMC is Chinese owned.

How pathetic

Actually does universal realize it was a huge success because everyone is stuck at home and can't actually go to a theater lol. AMC will end up winning this battle. People enjoy going to the movies.

pablovillaca

effective strategy.

So AMCTheatres is mad at them for releasing a movie on demand during a pandemic? Not cute AMC.

AMCTheatres i highly suggest not taking this course of action you got Jurrasic World 3 & Halloween Kills & Ends otw and not seeing this in your dolby theaters would be upsetting!

Lol pussies

Weak

That's exceedingly petty

No FastandFurious10 AMCTheatres We will see...

Amc digging their own grave faster 😂

AMC gonna be the new Blockbuster if they keep fucking around.

blackfilm Hmm it’s about to be a new normal once this is over and most families may want to stay in or watch movies at home

MurrellDan

Stupid move by Universal. Obviously the success of the film is largely due to the fact that many kids are hunkered down at home with parents. The notion that the trend will persist into post-coronavirus lockdown is absurd.

Wow talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face 🤦‍♂️

I stopped going to AMCTheatres long ago. I don’t pay $20 to sit through 30 minutes of commercials.

AMC is being greedy and ignorant and are going to cause the downfall of theatres.

Isn’t AMC on their last leg?!

Just wait till the new Fast and Furious hits they'll be back playing Universal films

Good, go bankrupt AMCTheatres. The age of streaming is gonna wipe y’all out.

I don’t think AMC will any longer be playing any studios films...

This is, quite frankly, *the* dumbest thing AMCTheatres can possibly do right now. This is a textbook example of cutting off one's nose to spite their face, and if they have any hope at all of recovering from this crisis they should immediately reconsider and save face ASAP.

'It is disappointing to us, but Jeff’s comments as to Universal’s unilateral actions and intentions have left us with no choice. Therefore, effectively immediately AMC will no longer play any Universal movies in any of our theaters in the United States, Europe or the Middle East'

I wonder what company will be buying my local AMC theaters at the bankruptcy estate sale

Hey DrafthouseLA, looks like AMCTheatres Universal Studios Citywalk might be available soon!

As Universal have the strongest slate of films after Disney and international rights for No Time To Die can't see this ban lasting long if AMC don't want to go bankrupt, people need to calm down and talk, tempers are frayed with Coronavirus and people are doing without thinking

Who cares. Won’t AMCTheatres be bankrupt soon anyways? Per sources. I go to RegalMovies so...

Salty

Disney: 'Can we help?'

LightsCameraPod

I love this story!!!! AMCTheatres WELL PLAYED

How ridiculously stupid lol, they think we give a damn

Yeah no way AMC is not gonna play F9, Minions 2, No Time To Die and Jurassic World 3. They are just doing this bc they feel threatened.

AMCTheatres stocked dropped 👎🏼

Lmaooo

AMCTheatres will quickly change their tune when they realize how much revenue they are missing out on. They are being exactly like Donald Trump and his family are, a bunch of fucking babies.

Lolz this is ridiculous

And do you believe them?

Good thing i just go to Edwards Theaters

Trolls World Tour still didn’t make as much as the first film, and I’m sorry but everyone is home quarantined and bored so of course VOD sales will be higher right now. Not to mention their are no other new releases to compete with. I think Universal will regret their remarks.

AMC, you’re just digging your own grave 💀

hey AMCTheatres so are you just trying to get people to abandon Stubs A-list?

Whaaaat TheFlemishSeth !!!

I’m happy to see AMC stand up for themselves, Universal will lose a lot of money from this decision. Let’s see them try to make a billion dollars from Fast & Furious 9 on VOD. Especially once people are no longer quarantined and have more competition.

blankcheckpod

Good for them

ManaByte GraceRandolph check this out

Guess I need to sell my $amc tomorrow morning

comments here are going on about how this proves the obsolescence of theaters or w/e, but the most that Universal can say about the most succesful VOD movie of all time is that it’s “on the road to profitability.” That’s not a model that can sustain a studio.

r.i.p., AMC theaters

What’s lost in all these attacks on AMC is that they have the artists on their side. All of the big names in Hollywood on the creative side view streaming as second class. Ask James Cameron what he thinks about the death of the cinema.

Rip amc

Theaters aren't opening anytime soon so the market must adapt. These 'hardball' tactics by AMCTheatres are extremely misplaced.

I'm sure they aren't interested in FAST 9

Literally the only reason people still see movies in theatres is because we are forced to if we don't want to wait months for home release. Go starve, Donna. No one has actually given a shit about your business for the 31 years I've been alive.

Online has been coming for yrs, surprised it took this long. The only problem is that I’m not going to rent a movie for $20 when it’s half that with out concessions at the theatre.

What the fuck AMCTheatres

Streaming films and Universal will go on. AMC and movie theaters in general, not so much.

Well AMC is gonna go bankrupt.

Guess I'll be seeing Fast 9 and Jurassic World 3 at a Regal ...or in my living room.

Judging from the condition of their theaters in my area, I would be better off at home anyway.

what an insane overreaction.

One would think AMC needs the studios to stay afloat? Banning all Universal films can't be good for the theater chain? I suppose it means more money for regal and imax?

Is this really as petty as it sounds, or am I missing something?

No Halloween, Fast 9, Jurassic World 3 & Universal also hold international rights for No Time to Die

ManaByte What the fuck just happened

Ba ba bankrupt Ba ba ba bankrupt Bankrupt Ba ba bankrupt Ba ba ba bankrupt Bank bank bank bank bank bankrupt Ba ba ba bank bank bankrupt

GraceRandolph This is pretty bold, yet quite excessive. Its going to only them in the long run.

Imagine being this fucking pathetic

ManaByte So does this mean I'll be able to watch Fast 9 at home on premium VOD?

AMC is fucking high

wtf

Comcast will fire ceo of universal now.

Amc is the one filing for bankruptcy & being sued for not paying rent so maybe they should shut up. Legit no one can go to the theaters at least universal is giving us entertainment while we can’t. It’s not universals fault amc ran a shifty business that had no fall back money

Are they gonna ban Warner Brothers next ? Ban the DCEU do it AMC

Well, movie theaters are all going out of business anyway, so in a very real sense it's true!

No Time to Die is distributed by Universal

I'm sure they will change their tune in time for the next Jurassic World or Fast movie next year.

AMC Fires Off Note To Universal In Wake Of Jeff Shell WSJ Statements On Windows & ‘Trolls World Tour’: Exhib Won’t License Studio’s MoviesAMC Boss Adam Aron has just fired off the following letter to Universal Studios Chairman Donna Langley in response to NBC Universal CEO Jeff Shell’s statements in the Wall Street Journal this… This could start all out war between exhibitors and studios as exhibitors need studios far more than studios need exhibitors Maybe AMC could work on their value a bit so they can compete with PVOD.
