In June 2018, Amazon announced US employees could apply to start their own small businesses, delivering Prime packages in Amazon-branded vans and uniforms. The company hoped it could fill its huge need for people to bring packages from local Amazon sorting centers to the customers who ordered them.
Read More"We received overwhelming interest from tens of thousands of individuals who applied to be part of the Delivery Service Partner program, including many employees," said Dave Clark, Amazon's senior vice president of worldwide operations."We've heard from associates that they want to participate in the program but struggled with the transition.
About this . . . KimIversenShow
Here is the question: are they allowed to deliver for a company other than Amazon? If not....
Robot & AI fears 'distracts attention from the more urgent things, like, for example, what's going to happen to jobs.' 'Even if there are some new jobs created somewhere, the vast majority of people are not easily going to be able to shift into them.' UBI
This seems...weird.
Delivery is going to replace sales people. Malls are closing - this is the next logical move. No brainer- do it!
Not a bad idea, how about that
thehaznedaroglu Great idea for great many minds with practical money making skills
Because they have ran out of talent.
They have their own delivery trucks now. Who will pay the extremely high vehicle insurance. No healthcare. Who would we call if a package comes damaged, is it amazon or the private contractor. Seems like a nightmare for the drivers.
Sounds terrific on it's face but why was my 1st thought 'indentured servitude' ? Imagining exclusive contracts, expensive loans down the road, all in an attempt to push the Fed Ex's out of Amazon world. Too cynical?
Strategy? AI. Robots... Amazon will replace Humans with robots, drones, ai... So, they'l begin now, giving 'crumbs', enticing their employees to create their own business, (a good idea initially, but we all know a lot of them will fail).. while amazon flourishes, with robots...
It's a great surprise to see how a company wants her staff to be independent and are willing to support them. This is a great gesture Amazon and as long as you continue, your company can never fold. That is what life is.a
Really smart for Amazon. Breaks reliance on the major couriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc) while creating thousands of new, (& independent!) hubs across the country to reduce shipping costs & distances. Meanwhile, they’re automating order-boxing in the warehouses. Divide & conquer.
Incredible!!
W O W !
That is great. Oh , I wish I am a worker at Amazon.
This is a wonderful idea, if I were in that position I can’t let the opportunity to be my own boss pass me by. This is going to increase employment opportunity if you look at it from a broader view.
AMZL is total bullshit and already looses half your stuff. More amateurs is a BAD idea! FAIL Amazon pass news
Up to 10k and 3 months pay. That’s kinda brass isn’t going to set up a business. Ive had holidays that cost more.
That’s cool amazon now please stop sending my boxes to my next door neighbor cause he’s the captain of a very large douche canoe 😡
Look like there is a deal anyway.
Moore gaymen
Nothing like expanding your corporate empire and trimming employees at the same time right?how many delivery trucks can I buy for 10k? How many delivery drones? This seems like kind of a crummy deal
Amazon is doing everything to maximize it's profit and look innovative. Truth is, it's all about profit.
Not bad!
The logistical systems alone could run millions to set up... what exactly is going on with this stupid concept/publicity stunt they're pushing here?
weird flex
I would do that but my van is broken.😢
I'm good
