Whatever the privacy and security implications of intelligent assistants may be, the headline seems to be misstated fearmongering. The user could not *eavesdrop* on another user in real time. He was delivered the wrong recordings in response to a GPDR request

deray That's nothing, I heard about this one company that been dropping eaves on ALL of them!

The error is they got caught 🤣

Lotta devices have no security n them and rely on ur router etc being secure. Still remember time i hit wrong keys; saw some1 else home automation system. Logged out and told co. 2 change password system cos it wasn't strong enuf. (they did) Evry1 won't b honorable n such cases.

deray Yeah! Only amazon should be eavesdropping on its customers!

“Alexa impeach President Trump for Christmas”

jjayp9 NUNCA

Just a conspiracy theory, right ? 😉

Surprise surprise 😂

One of the many reasons I will NEVER have one of these!!

A huge reason I want a 'dumb' house. Biz cannot be trusted to properly secure their products.

That is not an error, it was built in.

“error”

This is why I will not allow any of these listening products in my house.

If you're using these devices you are insane.

Alexa, be gone!

What sort of idiot buys these things?

'Error'. The only mistake was this having been discovered by someone other than the advertiser companies who buy your data.

No thank you. No Alexa for me. I can turn on my own lights.

deray Did they hear a bugparty ?

Play dominoes game Play with your friend Suitable for killing time Thanks

We bought a cheap baby monitor at Walmart and when we turned it on it picked up our neighbours’ baby monitor which they’d left on. We could hear every word said in their house. After a few hours we got bored and turned it off.

Old news, heard about this a yr ago

Always-on listening device connected to internet records sound and can send it anywhere. Who knew? 🙄

That's the problem. Who exactly is listening?

Just blame Facebook

I do not trust Alexa. I do not trust all those security cameras everyone is installing in their homes. I do not trust baby monitors or pet-sitting cameras.

You couldn’t pay me enough to put one of those things in my house.

They forgot they installed that backdoor which was reserved for Cambridge Analytica.

error, right, 'error'.

'Alexa, are you CIA or old-school KGB?'

probably not an error
