Amazon.com Inc. is planning to cut prices on hundreds of items at Whole Foods stores this week, as the e-commerce giant seeks to change the chain’s high-cost image amid intense competition among grocers.
Prices on more than 500 items, with more being added, are set to drop at Whole Foods stores across the U.S. on Wednesday, according to documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal. The products range from sliced salami to popcorn to cod fillets.

People who shop at Whole Foods don’t shop there because they like low prices. They shop there to buy healthy food. Maybe some do shop there to feel superior, but the core customer wants healthy, organic food above all, in a nice environment. Cheap food can be found elsewhere.
One of the best things about Whole Foods pre-Amazon was the emphasis on locally sourced products. I can't be positive, but I don't feel like it offers the same quality on a lot of things now

WholeFoods sucks since being Bezofied. It's gotten rid of so many products. They used to have multiple organic, fair trade, light roast coffees. Now, they have 1. There's much less variety now. Many fewer local products. It has made me appreciate independent markets more.

Too little too late. Whole Foods will always be known as a pricier grocery store. Just because amazon owns it now doesn’t mean it has the best prices.
Why is this news? Grocery stores have done this every single week for like 150 years.
They’re also cutting the once superb quality of their prepared foods, salad bar, and emoloyees. Plus, they’re cutting fave products from their shelves.
It’s a shame amazon gets to keep the name after completely destroying the brand.

Great! Hope that exposes the unsustainability of organic farming when the profit margins can no longer support it. Organic farming is not good for the environment nor produces enough to feed more than the few misguided people who are willing to pay more for it.
When you order your food & everything else online - you are putting your LOCAL STORES out of business. You are hurting your community. Why would you give the richest man in the world more money - while your community suffers?
