Along California's ring of fire, residents face decades of danger, destruction

Charles Mefford, 64, bought an old A-frame cabin in Berry Creek for $55,000 in 2007 and fell in love with the place. The bigger threat is from poor maintenance of parks, forests and other wild areas.
