Beachgoers are being warned to stay out of the water along the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast as toxic bacteria spreads.

People and pets are being warned to stay out of the water along the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast as toxic bacteria continue spreading eastward.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality started closing some beaches June 22 and on Sunday closed the last two sections near the Alabama line. The agency has warned that polluted Midwest floodwaters have fed an outbreak of cyanobacterium. Popularly known as blue-green algae, it can cause rashes, diarrhea and vomiting. It is spreading as water from the Mississippi River pours into the Gulf of Mexico.

Mississippi's beaches are a tourist attraction, but those farther east along the Gulf Coast in Alabama and Florida draw more visitors because the water is generally clearer with more waves. Barrier islands along Mississippi tend to keep the water relatively calm.

We don't have that kind of ballyhoo in India. People are left to their fate, Govt doesn't bother

Introduce /encourage good beneficial algae into the oceans. But above all, don't use it as a trash can . Poor lifeless whales are washing up onshore! It's the toxicity.

So this is an annual thing now. Cool.

Sure you don't need regulations or the EPA, businesses will self regulate and stated will watch the pollution level.

And the curse keeps getting worse.

Perfect place for Trump to go vacation.

No need to tell people this. NO ONE is planning on visiting Mississippi anyway. Just let Trumpers practice incest in peace.

Meet me at the beach at noon.

ALGOREWASRIGHT

Maybe the bacteria is related to rising sea levels and higher ocean temps? (GLOBALWARMING?)

Mississippi = Toxic even without the bacteria

So nice😍

Mississippi as a whole is a toxic bacteria
