Photos capture Hollywood's movie houses in this pandemic moment.

At 8 o’clock on a Saturday night, the scene outside the Regal LA Live & 4DX theater complex in downtown L.A. would normally be packed. Moviegoers would be rushing to arrive by showtime, packing crosswalks and backing up traffic on a busy Olympic Boulevard. Across from the cineplex, taco trucks would be drawing their own crowds.

On this particular Saturday night, however, with California’s stay-at-home order in effect, there were no cars, no moviegoers, no movies. Of course, there were supposed to be movies. The theater by my house is selling popcorn bags and it's a great idea to do since everyone loves popcorn and they make money by selling food.

Something about standing in line, getting a ticket 🎫, waiting for popcorn (overpriced), jalapeño juice, slurpy, looking for your seat(in the dark) some kid kicking the back of your chair, getting re-filled of popcorn .. yeah i don’t miss it

This is the reality

I miss the movies so much.

They were in trouble before... but now, it's finally time to reassess. The only reason I'd probably go to a theater after COVID is if they could show music concerts in them. Just do one show and broadcast it all over the country. Then maybe.

Welcome to the 'Non-Essential' part of the program Hollywood!

i went to the theater to watch netflix on my phone
