' Albert ' the alligator dips toes into new home at Gator Country after seizure in New York . A 12 foot, 750 pound blind alligator has crawled into his new home at a Gator Country pond following his seizure from an upstate New York homeowner who kept him for more than 30 years. Conservation officers seized the gator in March from the owner who allowed Albert to live at his home for more than three decades.
State officers seized the alligator from Tony Cavallaro's suburban home in Hamburg, New York, south of Buffalo. The agency said it took action because Cavallaro’s license to keep Albert, who is 34 years old, had expired in 2021 and he failed to bring the holding area into compliance. Cavallaro had lived with Albert for more than half of his life after buying the alligator as a baby at an Ohio reptile show. Cavallaro said the animal never showed signs of aggression.
