Here’s one more way to clean out the house before the holidays and get rid of stuff you don’t need, such as leftover paint, pesticides, old electronics, computers and expired medicine. You can bring all your leftover household hazardous waste to a free dropoff event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 12 in Alameda.

“My goal is to be a beacon of light that helps families find their way during a potentially dark time and to give back to those who have given so much to me during my time in the Bay Area,” stated Freeman, who said a huge demand exists for home care services and that she is proud to start a FirstLight business in the community where she grew up.

A charter amendment approved by voters in November 2020 lets the city attorney’s office prosecute misdemeanor and “wobbler” offenses that happen in Alameda. Wobbler offenses are crimes that could be prosecuted either as felonies or misdemeanors. And what’s a festival without a great bar? Fiesta Alameda will feature hometown Building 43 Winery serving their delicious wines, craft brews from Latino-owned Del Cielo Brewery, Micheladas courtesy of Modelo and CA Draft Tech, and margaritas and more mixed with award-winning tequilas Olmeca Altos and Código 1530.
