Dr. Yashica Robinson said she was 'appalled' that rapists could receive a lesser punishment than she would for completing an abortion.

A day after Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill banning almost all abortions in the state, a provider has spoken of her determination to continue offering terminations.

The board member of Physicians for Reproductive Health said she was “appalled” that rapists could receive a lesser punishment than she would for completing an abortion if the law comes into effect. A doctor could in theory face between 10 to 99 years in prison for providing an abortion, while an individual found guilty of second degree rape can be punished by a maximum of 20 years behind bars.

"I am enraged that the state of Alabama would force me to choose between what is ethical and medically appropriate care and breaking the law," wrote Robinson.

DBezet1 Brave woman!

Definition of White Male Privilege: 1) You think you have a right to tell a women what to do with her body. 2) You would tell your daughter or girlfriend to abort an unwanted pregnancy. 3) This is not really hypocrisy. 4) It is just plain misogyny. Time to elect more women.

micmac99 Thats not a smart move they can end up in prison the best course of action is mobilize the TENS OF MILLIONS of women scorned by this law to all vote Democrat in 2020& purge ALL the GOP from office. This was an incredibly dumb move by Republicans & ensured their defeat in 2020

They should have turned over tables and strangled the men until they turned purple. If you're not at the table, you're on the menu. it would take a woman to actually think before intercourse, to have unwanted pregnancies to decline

Georgia and Alabama abortion bills wreck pro-lifers' claim to defending women—and invite defeat in courts | OpinionThe anti-abortion movement used to argue it cares also about women, not only fetuses. The new bills throw this out the window, and will likely antagonize a conservative but incrementalist SCOTUS. This is “Biff” Kavanaugh’s entire purpose. Eliminate Roe. We’re doomed. These states love the fetis and hate the child. Are these states going to increase welfare benefits to help care for these children? No they’re not. Nope! Think Alabama will win this one.
