Alabama National Guard sees increase in recruits, Back in 2019 the guard fell below the 10,000 enlistments goal. This prompted changes to be made to increase recruitment and retention.
Since the start of the fiscal year, October 1st of 2023, the guard has enlisted 1,019 new soldiers. That's compared to 865 recruits this time back in 2023 and only 649 recruits this time in 2022. Changes have also been implemented to recruiter training which includes learning how to better connect and communicate with a potential recruit.
Enyah Williams, a high school recruit from Fairfield High School says she has noticed the difference in approach. She says she trusts her recruiter.
