Akron Police Department releases video bodycam video of the Jayland Walker killing and rally’s for justice, July 3, 2021CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Eight Akron police officers fatally shot Jayland Walker early on the morning of June 27 after he fired a gun during a car chase and reached for his waistband after he fled the car on foot, police said Sunday in the first city news conference since Walker’s death.

Mylett said officers, who are on paid administrative leave, believed Walker was reaching for a gun in his waistband. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Ohio attorney general’s office are investigating the shooting. The Akron police department’s internal affairs department is also investigating.
