Larry Kramer, a writer who helped found Gay Men’s Health Crisis and condemned the government and medical community for what he saw as their insufficient response to AIDS, died

Eric Sawyer, a longtime friend and founding member of ACT UP , said the cause was pneumonia, which Mr. Kramer had been battling for weeks.
