Single mom, Jennifer has used the Lehman Center for her children, and now grandson, of which she has custody over.“Didn’t have any help, nowhere to go, nobody to turn to,” Jennifer said.Without the Lehman Center, Jennifer said it’s hard to imagine where her relationship with her children would be today.
He said the center was created to reduce the amount of reportable child abuse in York County. Chase said families experiencing an array of things can come bring their children to the center for respite or emergency care including teetering on homelessness, food insecurity, a medical emergency, and more.
The center is completely cost free to parents. York County’s Children and Youth Agency helps offset those costs, with about $500,000 going towards the Lehman Center each year on average.
