Latter-day Saint women could obtain endorsements to serve as chaplains in hospitals, education, hospice care and prisons — but not, it turned out, the military. “I wanted to know why,” Jenna Carson said, “and I didn’t receive a clear answer.”

Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her future rested elsewhere.

Six months later, Carson received news the Air Force had approved her application. General authority Seventyset her apart the next month. Her uncle, Greg Carson, a retired Air Force officer, administered the military oath of office that same day. “He was giving a speech at Utah County’s National Day of Prayer celebration, and I was on the committee planning it,” she said. The two hopped on a call to discuss the event. “At the end of our conversation I told him, ‘I don’t know if you know this, but I am a Latter-day Saint.’”A growing group of ‘firsts’

This growth is reflected in Harris’ own changing title. Just this week she became the team lead of the church’s Chaplain Services, responsible for overseeing the application and endorsement process. This follows an assignment given a few weeks ago as chair of the brand-new Chaplain Advisory Committee, dedicated to mentoring, advocating for and training Latter-day Saint chaplains., the first woman to enroll as a graduate military chaplaincy student at church-owned Brigham Young University.

Cry about it 🙄

'No clear answer,' seems like a fairly clear answer to me. 🤷‍♂️

Did they do this as a media release to try to drown out the child abuse AP article? Don't think it worked.

Church sex abuse case, AP article brings statements from Latter-day-SaintsThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints responded Friday to an Associated Press story about how the church handled child sexual abuse cases in Arizona and West Virginia. Have they told you about the time in the 90’s how they paid for therapy for a pedophile do he would not have to go to jail!! The cult has responded with more bullsh*t to cover up their overwhelming acceptance of child sex abuse. This reads as a press release for the Church's responses more than an unbiased follow up to me. For instance, this line isn't quoted from the statement: 'Latter-day Saint clergy regularly report abuse to law enforcement based on advice from the help line.' Total PR. Ridiculous
